Riding Lessons

We offer year-round riding lessons for young children (starting at 4 years old) through advanced riders of all ages, from Monday to Saturday 9am-6pm. 


Please email or call to schedule a lesson.  At this time we only allow weekly time slots monthly and are not are not allowing every other week scheduling of riding lessons.

Junior Riding Lessons are half an hour, one-on-one private lessons for our youngest horselovers, ages 4-6. Students help groom and tack up their horse (5-10min), ride (20min) and untack (5min).
They learn about horsemanship and basic riding skills, such
as guiding your horse, stopping, steering in the walk and trot.
The first lesson at our facility, the Evaluation Ride costs $65; every following lesson costs $60.


Private and Group Riding Lessons are one hour lessons for adults and children age 7 and up. Students groom and tack up their horse (15min), ride (40min) and untack afterwards (5min).
Each lesson is customized to the individual riding level of each rider.
The first lesson at our facility, the Evaluation Ride costs $75; every following lesson costs $70.

All students will meet their instructor in our viewing room.
Riders must be dressed appropriately with soft, stretchable pants/jeans, boots with a heel and weather appropriate shirts and jackets
It is possible to borrow riding boots with a small heel and helmets.

What's an Evaluation Ride? The Evaluation Ride is the first ride at our facility, where the Instructor will get a first impression of the riders skills and goals. We introduce the rider to the basics of horsemanship and riding. The basics reviewed in the evaluation lesson will provide the foundation for the riders’ future progression plan.
The Instructor will advise the rider with a suitable horse and instructor for reoccurring lessons.

Cancellation Policy:
You must contact us 24 hours before your lesson to cancel without penalty. Please call during business hours (between 9am-5pm) to reschedule your lesson without being charged. If you cancel within 24 hrs of your lesson, you will be charged the full price of your lesson.Considerable time goes into planning lessons with instructors, paying instructors and reserving horses for riders, therefore it is the responsibility of the rider to come to lessons and be on time.

After-school Riding Programs

  • Saddle Club: A program designed for students with little or no riding experience, ages 6 to 12 years old. Runs on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:30pm to 6pm.

 

  •  Advanced Barn Club: A program designed for students who are able to walk, trot and canter on a horse, ages 10 to 15 years old. Runs on Thursday from 3:30pm to 6pm.

 

  • Pets and Ponies: A program designed for students who want to learn how to handle and care for animals. It includes a pony ride. For ages 5 to 10 years old, runs on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:30pm to 6pm.

 

Riders must be dressed appropriately with pants/jeans made out of soft, stretchable fabric and shirt/sweater that will not restrict your movements. It is possible to borrow shoes with a small heel and helmets if you do not have them.

This is a monthly program. You must sign up for the entire month (no single sessions available). Thanks!

Mini Riders

1-5 years old – Tuesday - Thursday 10:15am-11am - Mommy & Me program

Does your youngest want to play with animals and can’t wait for their first pony ride? Sweet Meadow Farm’s patient and well-trained animals are ready to introduce your child to a lifelong love!

At our 45 min morning class for children ages 1-5, parents and children learn how to handle and care for our small animals such as bunnies, guinea pigs and ferrets as well as groom, tack up and be safe around our gentle and kid-sized miniature horses. This unforgettable experience also includes a hand-led pony ride and feeding hay to our variety of barnyard animals including pot belly pigs, miniature horses and cows and baby goats.



 

 

 

 

Programs take place in our new insulated and heated barn as well as our indoor riding ring, all year round.

The child must be under 3 1/2 ft tall and under 45 lbs. to ride the mini horse, since they are so small. A parent is welcome and encouraged to participate in their child’s one-on-one learning experience. The cost of the class includes one child and one parent only.

Please wear sneakers or boots with long pants.

Barn Buddies

4-12 years old – Saturday 9am-10:30am - Drop-off program.

Spend your Saturdays learning and playing with animals!

Our friendly and well trained barnyard animals are just your size and waiting for you! Learn how to care for our miniature horses, cows, deer, goats and pot belly pigs, feed and play with our small pets such as bunnies, guinea pigs and ferrets and hold the birds in the bird room. Say hi to our exotic animals like Ruah the wallaby and Chompers the tortoise as well.

Girls & Boys' Scouts and Field Trips

Bring your Troops to Sweet Meadow Farm for an hour meeting to earn either a Horse Riding or Animal Badge!

  • Animal Badge: your troop will enjoy hands-on time with a variety of animals including bunnies, horses, chickens, goats, miniature ponies, our trained emu and wallaby, and our miniature cows. Learn how to care, groom and feed all these animals to earn your badges.
     
  • Horse Riding Badge: each child will learn how to handle, care for, groom, and tack up their horse. Each of them will have the opportunity to ride one of our gentle and well-trained horses.

We can accommodate troops of all sizes; the Sweet Meadow Farm staff works with all ages as well.  Each meeting is an  hour long, but you can choose to have a back-to-back meeting, and have your troop earn both badges in two hours. 

Sweet Meadow Farm does not supply actual badges.
