Horseback Riding Programs and Lessons

We specialize in horseback riding lessons and year-round after-school riding programs for young children through advanced riders. Our equestrian programs are run by experienced and certified instructors, from Monday to Thursday - 3:30 to 6pm, and on our own horses and ponies.

We offer year-round private and group riding lessons (7 years old and up) from Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 5pm. Junior riding lessons (Link to secondary page) are available for 4 to 6 years old. Parents are welcome to watch their child’s riding lesson in our heated and air-conditioned viewing room.

Come to play in our junior animal science drop-off program and be ready for an adventure that happens every Saturday morning from 10am to 12pm at Barn Buddies. A great hands-on program for children who love animals!

On any school holiday or vacation break, we run day programs (9am-3pm) for children and for your convenience, we now offer early drop-off and extended day options (extra fee applies).

Early Release School Days are also available from 1pm to 3pm.

Our popular Summer Program runs from June 17 to August 3 from 9am to 3pm (extended day and early drop-off available). Children will spend a week of fun and learning. They will feed, play and learn how to take care of our barnyard and exotic animals. Each of them will have a daily with a licensed riding instructor (children will be properly paired with both an instructor and a horse, based on their individual riding ability).

Bring your Boy or Girl Scout Troops to Sweet Meadow Farm to earn a Horse Riding or Animal Badge!

Don’t miss our pony rides every Saturday from 11am to 1pm!

Riding Lessons

We offer year-round riding lessons for young children (starting at 4 years old) through advanced riders of all ages, from Monday to Saturday 9am-5pm. Please call or email to schedule a lesson.

Private and Group Riding Lessons:

One hour lesson for adults and children ages 7 and up. Students will spend about 15 minutes tacking up their horse with their instructor, and around 40 minutes riding. They will spend the last 5 minutes untacking and putting away their horse.   > Download Riding Lessons flier

Junior Riding Lessons:

Half an hour lesson for children ages 4 to 6. Students will spend about 10 minutes brushing and saddling their horse. The next 20 minutes are spent riding. After, the rider will be walked back to the viewing room to meet their care giver.   > Download Jr. Riding Lessons flier

All students will meet their instructor in the viewing room. They must be dressed appropriately with riding pants, shoes and helmets.

Each lesson is customized to the individual's riding level of each rider. In order for us to guarantee you the utmost quality lesson, an evaluation ride is mandatory for all of our clients.

What's an Evaluation Ride? It is an initial first lesson, mandatory for every student. In this lesson, our instructors educate the student - step by step - on the grooming and tacking up process. Then the student is evaluated riding the horse.

Cancellation Policy: Full payment is due the day of your riding lesson. There is no refund to participants who cancel within 24 hours of the lesson. Sweet Meadow Farm does not offer make-up lessons. Considerable time goes into planning lessons with instructors and reserving horses for riders, therefore it is the responsibility of the rider to come to lessons and be on time. In the event that the instructor cancels a lesson, a make-up lesson will be re-scheduled at the convenience of the rider.
